Designer Eyewear 101: What Sets Luxury Glasses Apart from the Rest

When it comes to eyewear, there is a world of difference between standard frames and luxury designer options. High-end designer glasses not only provide an essential function for your vision but also serve as a statement accessory, elevating your look and imbuing a sense of sophistication and class. However, what truly sets designer glasses apart from their mass-produced counterparts goes beyond the brand name – it’s the unparalleled craftsmanship, attention to detail, and quality materials that make these frames exceptional.

In this article, we will delve into the fascinating world of luxury glasses, exploring the key features and craftsmanship that set these frames apart from the rest, and showcasing the exclusive designer brands available at Perspective Optometrists. Experience the elegance, quality, and long-lasting appeal of luxury eyewear and treat yourself to an accessory that not only enhances your vision but adds an unparalleled touch of style.

Quality Materials and Durability

One of the primary distinctions between luxury designer glasses and standard eyewear lies in the quality of the materials. Designer brands invest in premium materials that not only contribute to the frame’s elegance but also ensure durability and longevity.

1. Acetate and Zyl: Many designer brands use premium plant-based acetate or zyl materials to create frames. These materials are hypoallergenic, lightweight, and highly durable, providing both comfort and long-lasting wear. Acetate is also known for maintaining colour vibrancy over time, ensuring your frames remain looking stunning.

2. Titanium: This metal is a favourite among luxury eyewear brands for its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio. Titanium frames are not only sturdy and long-lasting but also lightweight and hypoallergenic, providing comfort for those with sensitive skin. Furthermore, titanium frames are resistant to corrosion, maintaining their pristine appearance even in humid climates.

3. Stainless Steel: Another popular option among designer brands, stainless steel is strong, lightweight, and resistant to corrosion. These frames also have hypoallergenic properties and offer excellent durability.

Attention to Detail and Craftsmanship

Designer eyewear brands often employ skilled artisans and follow traditional craftsmanship techniques to create their frames. This meticulous care and attention to detail ensure that every piece of luxury eyewear is an expression of creativity, style, and high-quality workmanship.

1. Hand Polished: Many designer glasses are hand-polished, providing an exceptional finish that is smooth and lustrous. This process enhances the frame’s overall appearance and helps extend its longevity by ensuring an even surface without micro-abrasions.

2. Custom Hinges: Luxury frames often feature custom-designed hinges that not only provide a seamless aesthetic but also improve the frame’s durability. This level of detail and functionality is rarely found in standard eyewear.

3. Unique Design Elements: Designer brands take pride in creating frames that showcase their signature style, innovation, and artistry. Expect unique elements such as intricate engravings, innovative shapes and contours, or the use of unusual materials and textures.

Comfort and Fit

For designer eyewear, comfort is as essential as style and durability. Luxury brands emphasise creating frames that provide an exceptional fit with features designed to ensure the utmost comfort.

1. Nose Pads: High-quality nose pads are often adjustable and crafted from materials that provide a comfortable, tailored fit. This ensures that the glasses will sit securely on the face without slipping or causing discomfort.

2. Temples: Luxury glasses often feature temples with unique detailing and ergonomic designs aimed at delivering a comfortable fit throughout the day. Such designs can include cushioned ear hooks or flexible temple arms that form to the unique shape of the wearer’s head.

3. Weight Distribution: Designer frames are thoughtfully designed to provide balanced weight distribution, ensuring comfort and reduced pressure on the face during extended wear. This results in frames that not only look stunning but feel phenomenal as well.

MyopiaControl

MiSight Contact Lenses are now available at Perspective Optometrists

MiSight
Prevelance of myopia has significantly increased in children in recent years. Early onset myopia is more likely to progress and has been linked to increased risk of retinal detachment and glaucoma in later years. Slowing down the rate at which myopia progresses in early childhood gives the best visual and health outcome.

These Daily Disposable contact lenses use “ActivControl” technology to help slow down the growth of the eyeball which in turn slows down the myopia.

Multi-center trials in Singapore, Hong Kong, Canada, Portugal and the UK have shown up to 60% reduction in myopia increase in children over a 3 year period.

Single use daily disposables makes these lenses comfortable and safe to wear for children from a young age.

MiSight Contact lenses are now available at Perspective Optometrists

HapyNewYear

Practice Newsletter Jan 17

Happy New Year We hope 2017 has gotten off to a good start for you. Often at the beginning of a new year we reflect and make plans. Hopefully looking after your eyes is on the list for 2017.

Most people would say their eyesight is the sense they would least like to loose. Yet there are 2 million people in the UK living with sight loss which could have been reversible.

In 2005 and 2008 I was fortunate enough to volunteer for Vision Aid Overseas in India and Uganda. In the rural placeswe visited, I witnessed how simple visual problems like short sightedness, need for reading glasses and cataracts had such a profound effect on education and livelihood.

Get Your Eyes Tested and Help Vision Aid Overseas

So if you have your eyes tested in February we will donate all proceeds to Vision Aid Overseas. Our goal is to raise £1500.

Founded in 1985, Vision Aid Overseas has been helping some of the poorest people in the world to see properly for over 30 years. Whether you are a teacher in Ghana, a seamstress in Zambia, or a school pupil in Ethiopia, poor eye sight can have a devastating impact on your life and livelihood.

No one lives in poverty because of poor eyesight; no one lives with poor eyesight because of poverty.

Vision Aid Overseas Mission

To enable people living in poverty to access affordable glasses and eye care.

Look After Your Vision & Get A £45 Gift Certificate As A Thank You From Us

When you get your eyes examined in February, not only will you be looking after your vision and helping raise money for Vision Aid Overseas, we’ll also give you a £45 gift certificate that you can use towards new eyewear (which technically means your eye exam will be free if you get new glasses). So you will get a little extra as a thank you for looking after the health of your eyes and helping someone else because of the funds we raise.
