Thorough, Unrushed Appointments
We never rush. Your eye test and dispensing consultation are allocated the time they deserve, so you leave with total confidence in your prescription and your new glasses.
At I-Perspective in Belsize Park, our independent optometrists begin with a comprehensive eye examination using the latest diagnostic technology.
Once your prescription is confirmed, our dispensing team guides you through an extensive collection of frames and premium lens options to find the combination that works best for your eyes, your lifestyle and your look.
Whether you need single vision lenses for everyday clarity, varifocals for seamless near-to-distance vision, or specialist occupational glasses for screen-heavy work, we have the expertise and the products to deliver exceptional results.

Do I need an eye test before having prescription glasses?
Yes – and it’s important.
A current prescription from a comprehensive eye examination is required for precision prescription glasses. At I-Perspective, we carry out thorough eye tests using advanced diagnostic technology, ensuring your prescription is accurate before we begin recommending frames or lenses.
It’s also a valuable opportunity to check the overall health of your eyes.
Can I use an existing prescription from another optician?
Yes, we can dispense glasses using a valid prescription from another registered optometrist, provided it is no more than two years old (one year for children under 16).
If your prescription is out of date, we’d recommend booking an eye examination with us first – both for accuracy and to ensure there are no changes to your eye health that need attention.
How long does it take to get prescription glasses made?
Timescales vary depending on your lens type and the complexity of your prescription.
Standard single vision glasses are typically ready within one to two weeks. Complex prescriptions, varifocals or specialist coatings may require a little longer. We’ll always give you a clear, honest timeframe at the point of ordering – and in our experience, glasses are often ready sooner than expected.
What’s the difference between single vision and varifocal lenses?
Single vision lenses correct one focal distance – either near, intermediate or distance. Varifocal lenses (sometimes called progressive lenses) provide a gradual transition between focal distances within a single lens, removing the need to switch between pairs of glasses.
They are particularly suited to those who experience difficulty with both near and distance vision – a condition known as presbyopia, which is common from the mid-forties onwards. Our optometrists will advise which is most appropriate for you.
Do you offer high index lenses for strong prescriptions?
Absolutely. High-index lenses are made from a denser material, which allows the lens to be significantly thinner and lighter than standard lenses – particularly beneficial for stronger prescriptions.
This greatly improves the look and comfort of your glasses. Our dispensing team will always recommend high-index lenses where appropriate, and discuss the associated costs clearly and without any obligation.
What aftercare do you provide for prescription glasses?
All glasses purchased from I-Perspective come with complimentary aftercare as standard.
This includes frame adjustments, professional cleaning, minor repairs and reassurance appointments if you’re adapting to a new prescription or lens type. Simply pop in during opening hours and we’ll take care of you. We also offer our Eyeplan scheme for those who would like a more structured, all-inclusive aftercare package.
Can children get prescription glasses from i-Perspective?
Yes. We offer specialist children’s eye examinations and can prescribe and dispense glasses for children of all ages.
Early detection of vision problems is particularly important during school years, and we make our practice a welcoming, relaxed space for younger patients. We also offer myopia management services to help slow the progression of short-sightedness in children.
We never rush. Your eye test and dispensing consultation are allocated the time they deserve, so you leave with total confidence in your prescription and your new glasses.

Every prescription is unique. Our dispensing opticians will recommend the lens type that best suits your prescription, habits and daily routine.
The most common prescription lens type, single vision lenses correct one focal distance — either for distance vision, near vision or an intermediate range. Ideal for those who are short-sighted, long-sighted or have astigmatism.
Varifocal lenses provide seamless vision at all distances — near, intermediate and far — without the visible line of a bifocal. They are the most natural solution for presbyopia and are ideal for everyday wear. We’ll take the time to ensure your varifocals are precisely centred for comfortable, clear vision from day one.
Prescription reading glasses are optimised for close-up tasks — reading, crafts, sewing or any near-distance work. Available in a wide range of contemporary frames, they need not be kept in a drawer until you reach for a book.
Specifically designed for people who spend significant time working at screens, occupational lenses provide a wider intermediate zone than standard varifocals. They help reduce eye strain, improve posture and make long working days noticeably more comfortable.
Blue light emitted by screens, LED lighting and digital devices has been linked to eye strain and disrupted sleep. Our blue light filtering lenses can be applied to any prescription, reducing exposure without compromising the clarity of your vision.
Photochromic lenses darken automatically in bright light and return to clear indoors. Convenient for those who move frequently between indoors and outdoors, they provide UV protection without the need for a separate pair of prescription sunglasses.
